Statewide Service Delivery
Sixteen (16) regional councils cover the state. However, in 2010 the seventeen regional councils signed an Inter-Regional Cooperative Agreement that establishes a policy to enhance their value by sharing member resources and capacity to deliver services to the State of North Carolina.
The Agreement also endorses regional councils, or their affiliated or subsidiary organizations, to carry out activities in regions outside of their boundaries with consent when those services are to the benefit of the region and the state.
